About
Education Emporium is owned and operated by Elizebeth Berard. After a 18-year teaching career that included teaching grades five and six, Home Economics and administration experience as both a vice-principal and principal, I began to dream of owning my own business. Opening a teacher store combined this dream with my wealth of experience in the educational field. After careful research and a great deal of sweat-equity, Education Emporium opened on June 29, 2009.
Our corporate mission is to provide exemplary materials that support teaching the Alberta curriculum to students from Kindergarten to grade 12. These materials include various kits and manipulatives in addition to books published by Canadian companies such as Eduguide, Castlerock (the Key and SNAP workbooks), Poster Pals, Math Profile Assessment Tool and S&S Learning Materials. Of course we also stock materials by leading educational publishers such as Evan-Moor, Teacher Created Resources and Carson-Dellosa.
A secondary mission is the provision of toys that foster children’s creativity, imagination and are developmentally appropriate. Because it is important to foster pride in our country, we regularly stock games such as Canadian Trivia, Canada- and Alberta-opoly, Professor Noggins games and a wide selection of puzzles that highlight Canadian art or landmarks. We even have puzzles that are maps of Canada. We also stock toys that help children develop fine motor skills such as grasping, pinching and lacing. In addition, we have a selection of art and craft kits that are appropriate for children aged 5 to 12.
Education Emporium welcomes all those who are passionate about the academic success of our children. We also pride ourselves in our corporate citizenship; as such Education Emporium is a member of the Medicine Hat Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Federation of Independent Business. In addition we are a sponsor of the Medicine Hat Junior B Cubs and have sponsored the Medicine Hat toy run and the Shriner’s Christmas activities for children.
